Ivorian tax officers to begin three-day strike on Wednesday

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire (PANA) - Ivorian tax workers have given notice of a 72-hour strike from Wednesday after the collapse of talks with the government on their grievances.

The strike was announced at an extraordinary general meeting held on Monday by the four unions that are members of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Tax Directorate.

The four unions, which have a membership of 5,500, said their action stems from the failure of discussions with the Ivorian state on their issues.

They said nine points were at the centre of discussions with the government side. These include trade unionism, reorganization decrees, appointment of facilitators, promotion of deputy directors and the settlement of a management case in which 1,500 officers are involved.
