Ivorian President Ouattara meets with AFRICOM Commander

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - The Ivorian president, Alassane Ouattara, on Tuesday held talks with General Stephen Townsend, Commander of the US Military commandment for Africa (AFRICOM), the Ivorian presidency said in a statement.

The talks focused on issues of common interest, particularly the security situation in the sub-region and the military cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and United-States, added the same sources.

General Townsend praised the economic performances and stability of Côte d’Ivoire and discussed with President Ouattara ways and means by which the United-States could contribute to the stability of the sub-region.

The sources said that the Ivorian Senior Minister, minister of Defence, Téné Birahima Ouattara, and the minister, chief of staff of the president of the Republic, Fidele Sarassoro, took part in the talks.
