Italian president says Libya's stability requires departure of mercenaries and foreign forces

Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) - Italian President Sergio Mattarella said on Wednesday that national reconciliation and stability in Libya are "priorities of Italian foreign policy" and that their achievement requires "the departure of mercenaries and foreign forces from Libyan soil.

Mattarella was speaking at a meeting with his Tunisian counterpart, Kais Saeid, who is on a 48-hour visit to Italy, according to a statement from the Tunisian presidency, which added that the two statesmen discussed several regional and international issues of common interest.

The Italian president reiterated his country's support to the efforts of the United Nations in Libya.
