Intl. aviation expert calls for high quality airport operations management in Africa
Kigali, Rwanda (PANA) - The secretary general of the International Air Cargo Association (TIACA), Vladimir Zubkov, on Tuesday called for more efforts to provide customer service excellence and the high quality of modern passenger facilities at African airports
Speaking on the sideline of the the 49th Annual General Assembly (AGA) and Summit of the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) which is taking place in Kigali, the aviation executive insisted that African aviation authorities, should focus on some of the key performance factors that their passengers most appreciate.
At a time African seems to be presenting massive potential in terms of economic development and growth opportunities and air travel, aviation experts gathered in Kigali noted that some airports need massive upgrading.
Among some airport development projects that are currently being implemented are Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), Seychelles (Seychelles) and Tamale Airport (Ghana) of which construction revamping are expected to be completed by the end of 2017
However, Kigali International (Rwanda) upgrade and expansion will be completed in October 2019 at a total cost of US$818 million.
Among required criteria for a high quality airport are the structure of departing and arriving passengers, state-of-the-art baggage-handling systems, retail shops, and VIP lounges, aviation experts said.
