Inter-parliamentary assembly of the Francophonie to meet in Brussels

Brussels, Belgium (PANA) - The 38th session of the Inter-parliamentary assembly of the Francophonie opens on Wednesday in Brussels to discuss and adopt resolutions and recommendations to be presented to the heads of state and government during the 14th Francophonie summit slated for 14 October in Kinshasa, DR Congo.

Some 250 delegates from over 60 countries will participate in proceedings to be presided over by the Assembly's president, Burkinabé national Roch Marc Christian Kaboré.

The session will also be attended by the Secretary General of the International Francophonie Organization (OIF), Abdou Diouf, according to an OIF communiqué received by PANA in Brussels on Tuesday.

The communique said Diouf would deliver a speech in which he would highlight the role of a democratic regulator that the Francophone parliamentary assembly was playing within the francophone system of the promotion and safeguarding of common values.
