Benin organises voluntary return of its nationals in Kuwait, other Gulf countries

Cotonou, Benin (PANA) - The Beninese authorities are organising the voluntary return of their nationals living in Kuwait and some Gulf countries in the context of the war between Iran, the United States and Israel.

In a statement, the Embassy of Benin in Kuwait announced arrangements to facilitate the return to Cotonou of Beninese nationals present in several Gulf countries.

The measure, which is addressed to Beninese residents or stranded in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, refers to flights planned from airports located in Saudi Arabia, a country from which travellers will be able to reach Benin.

Those wishing to return to the country are to register with their country’s diplomatic services in order to allow for the issuance of emergency entry visas to Saudi Arabia.

The diplomatic institution asks the interested parties to transmit the information appearing on their passports in order to facilitate the administrative formalities related to this trip.

According to the Beninese authorities, the diplomatic representation based in Kuwait covers several states in the region, including the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain with approximately 13,000 Beninese nationals living in Kuwait and nearly 2,500 in the United Arab Emirates. The Beninese community in Bahrain remains smaller, although the estimate has not been communicated.

The authorities welcome the fact that no Beninese citizen has been reported among the victims of the incidents recorded in the region.
