Witnesses report car bomb explosion in central Mogadishu

Mogadishu, Somalia (PANA) - An explosion occurred on Wednesday morning in the centre of Mogadishu, the Somali capital, Shabeele Radio reported, quoting witnesses.

The explosion was reportedly caused by a bomb fixed in a car belonging to a police officer, witnesses said, indicating that several people may have been wounded.

No faction claimed responsibility for the explosion which was similar to those perpetrated in the past by the Al-Shabab insurgent movement

On Tuesday, Al Shabaab fighters set a coal truck on fire in the centre of the country, as it headed to the capital.

Such attacks perpetrated by the rebel movement have increased in recent times against trucks carrying coal.
