Widows of Malian soldiers who died in conflicts soon to have multifunctional center

Bamako, Mali (PANA) - Widows of Malian soldiers and paramilitaries who died in theaters of operations will be equipped with a multifunctional center whose foundation stone was laid on Tuesday in Kati, about 15 kilometers away from Bamako, the location of largest military camp in Mali, PANA learned from reliable source.

In April 2018, the wife of the Malian president, Mrs. Aminata Keita, had donated 80 million CFA francs to the widows of the deceased military and paramilitary soldiers, for the construction of a multifunctional center and the financing of the activities generating income.

"The objective of the gift of the wife of the Head of State is to enable these women to carry out income-generating activities as part of their economic empowerment. It is this initiative that informed the construction of this center for an amount of 40 million CFA francs. The remaining 40 million CFA francs will be invested in income-generating activities for these same women," said the director of the social service of the armed forces, Colonel Samaké Mariétou Dembélé.


She recalled that the construction of the multifunctional center was eagerly awaited by the women beneficiaries, because this will allow them, as well as their orphans to learn among others, cutting and sewing, hair dressing, to provide for their needs.
