Port Sudan, Sudan (PANA) - US Senior Adviser for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos has condemned an attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against the only remaining hospital in the besieged north Darfur state's capital of El-Fashir.
“I condemn the reported RSF attack on besieged El Fasher's last remaining hospital and nearby mosque in North Darfur, Sudan, which killed and injured civilians, including doctors and nurses, in an area where humanitarian access is still denied,” Boulos said a statement on his official X account.
The statement added that “there is no excuse for targeting places of worship, hospitals, and civilians”.
This refers to an attack against a mosque in El Fasher that left over 75 dead and dozens injured early this month. It also refers to Saturday's attack that left patients and children dead in a hospital.
Boulos lamented that the conflict has gone on for too long, taking innocent lives on a daily basis through attacks and famine.
The US official stressed that "the belligerents should recognise there is no military solution and bring this conflict to an end.”
