US embassy raises alert over employment scam

Monrovia, Liberia (PANA)   -  The United States embassy here has alerted the Liberian public against fraudsters claiming to be employees of the embassy and advertising volunteer work at its facilities.

According to the U.S. fraud alert issued by the Department of State on Monday, the fraudsters are asking for US$20 for a health examination and a certificate to be sent via mobile money to a medical doctor.

The release said that the embassy did not require any payment from any applicant for any work opportunity.

"All U.S. Embassy jobs and opportunities are exclusively posted on our website at: https://lr.usembassy.gov/embassy/jobs/," the statement said.

Authorities of the embassy are therefore urging the public not to believe or respond to any caller claiming to be recruiting for the US embassy in Monrovia and not to share any personal or contact information or forward any funds to anybody claiming to be from the embassy.
