UNHCR resettles 41 refugees from Libya in Norway

Tripoli, Libya (PANA)- A total of 41 refugees have left Libya this week by air to be resettled in Norway, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced on Wednesday.

In a statement, UNHCR said the flights were carried out with logistical support from the Regional Development and Protection Programme for North Africa and funding from the European Union and Italy.

UNHCR thanked the countries that provide these places, considering that resettlement is an important solution that allows the transfer of refugees from vulnerable groups to safety for a better future.

Last Friday, UNHCR announced the evacuation of 19 refugees and asylum-seekers from Libya to Europe in a trip carried out with the logistical help of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

At the end of July, some 85 vulnerable asylum seekers were evacuated from Tripoli to Italy, UNHCR announced.
