Tunisian president reassures Algerian counterpart on future of democracy in Tunisia

Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) - Tunisian President, Kais Saeid, has reassured his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, during a telephone conversation that Tunisia "is in the right direction to consecrate democracy and multiparty system," the Algerian presidency announced on Sunday.

President Saeid also informed Mr. Tebboune that important decisions will be unveiled very soon, the source added without specifying the nature of these decisions.

On the other hand, Algerian Foreign Minister, Ramtane Lamamra, said what is happening in Tunisia is an internal matter and that his country respects Tunisia's sovereignty.

Speaking at a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Chokri, on Saturday evening, Lamamra said that Algeria "trusts in the capacity of the Tunisian people to overcome their obstacles and will do what it deems best for the country.
