Tunisian President reiterates his country's position on Libyan crisis
Tunis Tunisia (PANA) - Tunisian President Kais Saied reiterated on Wednesday the constant position of Tunisia with regard to the situation in Libya, saying that his country is committed to legality and will always maintain the same position.
President Saied had a telephone discussion with the head of the Libyan Government of National Accord, Fayez al-Sarraj.
He explained that statements can be made by not conforming to this position either because their authors misunderstood Tunisia's position, or they were awkwardly expressed.
According to the official website of the Tunisian presidency, Mr. Saied said that the solution to the crisis in Libya can only be Libyan translating the will of the Libyan people, the only holder of sovereignty and the only one able to determine their future far from foreign interference.
"Libyans and Tunisians are one people and therefore their future in terms of security and stability can only be common," said the Tunisian head of state.
For his part, Mr. Fayez Sarraj noted the depth of relations between Tunisia and Libya, saying that nothing can tarnish the solidity of these relations.
He recalled that the structures that operate on the border with Tunisia are under the tutelage of the government of national accord and ensure the safety of Tunisians.
