Tunisia to host UN Forum on Gender Equality

Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) - In collaboration with UN Women and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Tunisian Government will host a Forum on Gender Equality from 24 to 26 March in Tunis.

The Forum will be held one year before the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and one year after the 20th anniversary of the Security Council resolution on women, peace and security.

As part of preparation of this Forum, a consultation by the Net, was initiated to better guide the agenda of the meeting, which gives the opportunity to all those interested in issues related to gender equality to contribute to the evolution of the work programme and debate during the years 2019 and 2020.

The consultation focused on several topics such as: Beijing to Beijing + 25 what progress? What are the shortcomings? What to emphasize for the next 25 years?

Several topics are on the agenda of the Tunis Forum, including Women, Peace, Security, Innovation and technology, and Strengthening women's economic capacity.
