Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) - Tunisia is ready to host an inter-Libyan dialogue on its territory under the aegis of the United Nations Mission in Libya, announced a communiqué from the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The aim is to reach a peaceful political solution, guaranteeing the unity of Libya and meeting the aspirations of its people for peace, security and stability, says the text published Friday evening in Tunis.
At the same time, Tunis expressed its “deep concern at the escalating security situation in Tripoli and its repercussions on the safety of Libyan citizens and residents in Libya”, according to the communiqué.
In view of this deteriorating situation, Tunisia renews its call for an immediate end to the clashes in all regions of its neighbouring country. It urges the Libyan parties to cease the use of weapons, reject violence and opt for dialogue as the only possible way out of internal disputes.
The Ministry stressed the need for "wisdom to prevail and for the higher interests of the Libyan nation to be placed above all other considerations, working in a spirit of consensus between all parties".
Tunisia calls for inclusive participation in a comprehensive political process under the aegis of the United Nations, leading to the cessation of violence, the organization of elections and the establishment of unified, permanent institutions representative of the entire Libyan people, without exclusion.
