Tunisia's security and stability closely related to Libya's, says Jerandi

Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) - Tunisia's security and stability are closely related to those of Libya, the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Othman Jerandi, reaffirmed on Monday evening in Algiers.

Quoted in a statement of the ministry, Jerandi, who was addressing the ministerial meeting of Libya's neighbours, recalled that he expressed this sentiment in all bilateral, regional and international meetings.

He affirmed that Tunisia spares no effort to support Libya and Libyans in all their efforts to restore peace and security to their country, far from any external interference.

The head of the Tunisian diplomacy insisted that the challenges related to security, terrorism and organised crime require more joint and responsible attention, as well as exchange of information, away from anything that can harm the relations between the two countries and peoples.

He also insisted on the need to deal with the situation in Libya in order to overcome the differences and achieve an inclusive reconciliation and prepare the best conditions to succeed in the upcoming elections.

Regarding mercenaries and foreign fighters in Libya, Jerandi called for a clear and well thought-out agenda for their evacuation to avoid terrorist organisations exploiting their presence to spread more anarchy, chaos and violence in the country.

The presence of mercenaries and foreign fighters should not also be a cause for the increase of terrorist acts, organised crime, human trafficking and the infiltration of mercenaries into neighbouring countries through irregular migration channels, the Tunisian minister pleaded.
