Tunisia falls more than 5 billion dinars behind in worsening budget deficit

Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) - Tunisia's budget deficit has worsened to reach 84 per cent at the end of July, thus exceeding 5 billion Tunisian dinars against 2.7 billion dinars in July 2019, according to the provisional results of the implementation of the state budget, published Tuesday by the Tunisian Ministry of Finance on its official website.

According to the results, the State's own resources and grants declined by 11 pc to 16.4 billion Tunisian dinars, due in particular to the decline in tax revenues, against a slight increase in spending and loans of about 1.5 pc to 21.3 billion Tunisian dinars.

The volume of public debt increased by 7.8 pc to about 88.5 billion Tunisian dinars at the end of the first seven months of the current year, 68 pc of which is external debt. (1TND=1,18 US$)
