Tunisia engaged in common African job for peace on continent, says Jerandi
Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) - The Tunisian minister of foreign affairs, migration and Tunisians living abroad, Othman Jerandi, Wednesday reaffirmed the commitment of his country to achieve peace and the well-being of peoples of the African continent, an official source said here.
Jerandi made this known through videoconferencing at the 37th executive council meeting of the African Union over the holding in early November in Tunisia of the Libyan-Libyan political dialogue.
Speaking about Tunisia’s position on the Libyan crisis, Jerandi reiterated that his country remained neutral and was working to reach a Libyan-Libyan political solution based on respect for Libya’s unity and sovereignty and far from foreign interference.
He called on African countries to continue backing the political dialogue between different Libyan parties for secured, prosperous and unified solution aiming to contribute to establish peace in the region and in all Africa.
The African Union executive council is examining several political issues, particularly that linked to the AU reform through the adoption of a new organisation of the Union’s Commission.
The Council is also looking into the African bids for international positions through the report of the bid commission which met last 12 October under the presidency of the Tunisian minister of foreign affairs, migration and Tunisians living abroad, said the statement.
