Tunisia calls for respect of Libyan ceasefire

Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) - Tunisia has hailed the decision to establish a ceasefire in Libya calling it "an important step in stopping the bloodshed of Libyans and to calm the situation".

According to a statement from the Tunisian Presidency, "this decision is likely to pave the way to halt the military operations in the country and a return to dialogue and negotiation under the auspices of the United Nations and within the framework of respect for international legality".

Tunisia called on all Libyan parties to commit to respecting the ceasefire, and reaffirm a rejection of military solutions.

They should commit to consensus as the only way to restore the political process, in the context of a dialogue to reach a permanent and definitive solution that preserves Libya's sovereignty, stability and territorial integrity and paves the way for the realization of the aspirations of the Libyan people,  the statement added.
