TunisAir to acquire five Airbus A320neo aircraft

Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) - Tunisia's national carrier Tunisair signed an agreement with Irish leasing company, SMBC Aviation Capital, on Thursday in Tunis to lease five Airbus A320neo aircraft at a total cost of 850 million Tunisian dinars. (US$0.35=One Tunisian dinar.)

These aircraft will serve short- and medium-haul routes, especially those to countries south of the Sahara.

These aircraft are equipped with several services including WIFI.

The Tunisian airline is currently facing several difficulties, the most important of which relate to the modesty of its fleet and financial problems as well as the persistence of flight delays and the proliferation of corruption.

The latest ranking of Tunisian national companies recently placed TunisAir at the bottom.

The company currently has 29 aircraft, 7 of which are broken down, with some of them being more than 20 years old.
