Tunis to host first edition of international aeronautics, defence exhibition in March 2020

Tunis Tunisia (PANA)  - The first edition of the international aeronautics and defence fair (Tunisia 2020) will be held from 4-8 March, next year, an official source said here Wednesday.

More than 250 exhibitors showcasing several types of airplanes and equipment are expected to participate in the fair.

"Tunisia is today a platform and entry gate opening to the 54 African countries," said the director and organiser of the international aeronautics and defence exhibition (IADE), Gaël Pineau, at a news conference here.

He said the exhibition could not achieve its goal unless it turned to the African continent.

Tunisian Minister of Transports Hichem Ben Ahmed said the international aeronautics and defence exhibition to showcase Tunisia’s advancements at both the civil aviation and aeronautic industry levels would aim at supporting the country’s position as a meeting point between African and European markets.

Slim Feryani, Tunisian minister of Industry and Small and medium-size firms, said the exhibition would strengthen that promising sector and promote the country as a tourism and investment destination.

He said Tunisia’s exports in the sector of aeronautics components increased from 634 million Tunisian dinars in 2012 to 1.5 billion dinars.

The sector offers 17,000 jobs, as against 1,300 in 2004 with provisions for 38,000 jobs in 2030, while the number of companies operating in the sector had risen from 10 to 80.
