Tripoli hosts meeting on international police training, cooperation

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – The Libyan minister of Interior, Fathi Bachagha, on Monday held talks with Ahmed Abdelwahid, the operations coordinator at the anti-terrorist department of the partnership project, financed by the European Union, on the training and cooperation with international police.

 

The meeting, held at the Interior ministry, focused also on the partnership project financed by the European Union, which aims to control all border posts of managed by the Libyan government, in a bid to prevent the infiltration of terrorists and criminals, the communiqué issued on the website of the Interior ministry said.

 

The two officials also examined issues related to the international police training and cooperation, in collaboration with the Arab and International criminal police at the Interior ministry (Interpol), said the ministry.

 

The team director of the operation and coordination center, Nadim Wakila, who is also chief of officer of the Arab and international criminal police at the Libyan Interior ministry, also took part in the meeting.

 

The project is initiated within the framework of the EU assistance mission for integrated border management in Libya (EUBAM-Libya).

 

EUBAM was set up on 22 May 2013 on the decision of the EU Council with the mission ‘’to help the Libyan authorities to get the capacities needed to improve security at the Libyan land, maritime and air borders’’ and in the long-term ‘’define a broader strategy on the integrated border management’’.
