Togolese minister of economy and finance elected new chairman of BIDC Board
Lomé, Ttuogo (PANA) - Togolese Minister of Economy and Finance Sani Yaya was Friday elected Chairman of the Board of the Investment and Development Bank (BIDC) of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), official sources told PANA here Saturday.
He replaces Sierra Leone's Minister of Finance Jacob Jusu Saffa.
This election took place at the 18th regular meeting of the BIDC.
Appreciating the qualities of the new chairman, the current chairman of the BIDC, Ghanaian George Agyekum Donkor, praised the incoming chairman, underscoring his mastery of banking and finance through his professional background and his functions in the public sector.
The Bank's Board of Governors is composed of the finance or economic planning ministers of the 15 ECOWAS member states: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d'Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
The BIDC, ECOWAS' financial arm, supports member states in the field of development projects.
