Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - The President of the Transition of Mali, Colonel Assimi Goïta, received, on 4 January 2023, the President of the Republic of Togo, Faure Gnassingbé, who is on a 24-hour working visit to Mali, an official statement said here Wednesday.
The two personalities will have a working session, according to the same source which did not reveal the purpose of the visit.
Several observers have suggested that the Togolese president should negotiate with his Malian counterpart for the release of 46 Ivorian soldiers recently sentenced on Malian territory.
Togo is the mediator in the diplomatic crisis that has hit Côte d'Ivoire and Mali for several months.
