Three killed in Al Shabaab attack in northeastern Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya (PANA) - Kenyan Police have confirmed the killing of three people during an Al-Shabaab attack on a passenger bus in Mandera, northeastern Kenya.

The Somalia-based terror group opened fire on the bus. The attack  left six  people injured.

The bus driver is reported to have managed to speed off even as the gunmen sprayed the bus with bullets, saving many passengers.

It was also established that the bus was not under police escort during the attack in the county that borders Somalia.

Buses that ply the route after missing the police-escorted convoys, do so at their own risk.

Under normal circumstances, the police  provide escort to passenger buses operating in counties prone to terror attacks in northeastern Kenya and parts of the coast region.

The counties are Lamu, Garissa, Mandera and Wajir.-
