Three Malian soldiers killed in attack in terrorist attack

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - Three Malian soldiers were killed and four others wounded Wednesday in an attack in southern Boulkessy, the Malian ministry of Defence said here in a statement.

“On 23 September 2020 around 12H 45 minutes, a patrol mission of the Malian armed forces (Fama) of the G5 Sahel post fell in an ambush in southern Boulkessy,” the statement said.

"The provisional death toll at the FAMa side is three dead and four others wounded. For the enemies, about 15 wounded were reported," it said.

The FAMa wounded were evacuated to Sevare with the help of the UN Support Mission for Mali stabilization (MINUSMA).

The ministry of Defence and former combatants “strongly condemned the cowardly terrorist attack, praising the bravery and determination of our valiant soldiers who battled hard to drive back the enemy and maintain their position.

“In this painful circumstance, the ministry of Defence and former combatants, in the name of all defence and security forces, offered condolences to the families of the martyrs and wished early recovery to the wounded. 

“The ministry of Defence and former combatants encourage the FAMa to carry on their mission of defence and securization of populations and their goods and reaffirmed in them full confidence,” the statement said, while inviting the people to continue giving them their fulle support.
