Ten new political parties registered in Algeria

Algiers, Algeria (PANA) - Ten new political organizations have been registered as political parties to hold their constituent congresses, the Algerian Ministry of Interior and Local Authorities announced on Wednesday.

On 4 April, the Ministry invited those who wish to create political parties to submit their files in accordance with the government's decision to lift the ban on parties that have been in the process of being formed for years.

"In implementation of the government's decisions, pending the unceasing entry into office of the digital platform for the creation of parties and associations, the Ministry of the Interior and Local Authorities informs all citizens who meet the regulatory conditions to create a political party or association of a national nature that the filing of applications is open," the ministry said.

With regard to files already submitted but still incomplete, the Ministry invites political parties to contact it to complete the necessary steps for their registration. The number of recognized political parties in Algeria is estimated at 60, including the dozens of opposition parties created since 2013, said the president of the independent higher authority for elections, Abdelwahab Derban.
