Sudanese military leader confers with Saudi Crown Prince in Jeddah
Port Sudan, Sudan (PANA) - the Chairman of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Burhan, Monday evening paid a surprise visit to Saudi Arabia, where he conferred with Prince Mohamed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The Sudanese presidency said the two sides held a meeting where they “reviewed the course of bilateral relations and prospects for strengthening them and advancing cooperation between the two countries.”
The presidency statement pointed out that Burhan expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, commending its role in supporting Sudan in all fields.
The Sudanese leader further “reiterated Sudan's solidarity, both government and people, with the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against the brutal attacks that targeted its security and stability”, adding that Burhan emphasized “Sudan's rejection and condemnation of the Iranian attacks on the Kingdom”.
The statement said the meeting also addressed the security and stability of the region, particularly the Red Sea.
Lieutenant General Burhan affirmed Sudan's readiness to provide all forms of support to its brothers in Saudi Arabia.
The Sudanese Presidency statement stressed that “the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of the security of Sudan".
The Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman was meanwhile quoted as welcoming the visit of the Sudanese official “affirming the depth of the historical relations between the two brotherly countries and expressing his appreciation for Sudan's supportive stances towards the Kingdom and its solidarity with it.”
Burhan was accompanied on his visit by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohi El-Din Salem, and the Director of the General Intelligence Service, Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal.
The Sudanese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ambassador Dafallah Al-Haj Ali, also joined the delegation.
