Sudan FM receives AU Representative to Sudan

Khartoum, Sudan (PANA) - The African Union has promised to help with efforts aimed at delisting Sudan from American terrorists- sponsors dossier, Sudan News Agency quoted an AU official as saying after meeting with Sudan’s new Foreign Minister, Ms  Asma Mohammed Abdulla on Sunday.

Asma, who received the AU representative to Sudan, Mohamed Belaish, has commended the huge role played by the continental organisation in the mediation that culminated in the formation of the civilian government in Sudan.

The minister called on the African Union to continue its efforts to help with realisation of peace and stability in Sudan. She also looked forward to AU assistance in writing off Sudan's debts.

The minister said Khartoum would like to see an international donors' conference co-sponsored by the African Union, UN and the international partners.

The AU representative who congratulated the Foreign Minister on her appointment, has affirmed, the African Union’s support to the transitional government and Sudan's endeavors to restore its strategic role in the continent.

He said the African Union’s would work with Khartoum to have the name of Sudan removed from the list of countries considered by the Americans as sponsor of international terrorism.
