Speaker of Libyan parliament underlines importance of Africa’s role in resolving Libyan crisis

Tripoli, Libya (PANA)    -   The Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives (Parliament), Aguila Saleh, Tuesday stressed here the need for Africa to help resolve the Libyan crisis, the Libyan news agency reported.

Saleh made the comment when he received his visiting counterpart of the Central African Republic, Laurent NGON-BABA, at Labreg airport of Tobruk in the East, recalling the strong historic relations between the two countries.

NGON-BABA was accompanied by the special representative of the CAR president, Mulio Mbo de Ntian, at the airport, in the presence of the minister of foreign affairs of the government of national accord, Hedi Hweij, the sources added in a statement.

The statement added that "Saleh discussed the role played by the Libyan House of Representatives, the only organ elected by the Libyan people, and the national role played by the armed forces to defeat terrorism and violent extremism and clear off all the Libyan soil".

The speaker of the CAR parliament reaffirmed the full support of his country for the Libyan House of Representatives, underling that the visit was to strengthen the relations between the two countries.

"Central African Republic has suffered from armed groups as Libya is presently suffering after living the suffering of the Libyan people and we must join our efforts to overcome all challenges which we are facing,” he added.

"I seize this opportunity to express all our support to the House of Representatives and we hope that peace will come back in Libya. The House of Representatives is the guarantor of the country’s unity, as it represents all parties of the Libyan people."
