Seven Burkinabe girls killed as boat capsizes in Côte d'Ivoire

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - A boat carrying fishmongers capsized Friday evening while crossing the Sassandra River in Greikro, killing seven girls aged between 10 and 13, official sources said here Saturday.

Ivorian security sources said the incident occurred in the sub-prefecture of Guezon, Pk 50, east of Duekoué, Côte d'Ivoire, causing the death of the seven girls, all of Burkinabe nationality.

According to the information provided by the Duekoué Gendarmerie Brigade, and published by the Ivorian daily, "Fraternité Matin", the bodies have been handed over to the families of the girls while investigation into the incident have begun.
