Senegalese President to attend Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development in Egypt

Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - Senegalese President Macky Sall was due to leave Dakar on Tuesday for Aswan, Egypt, to take part in a two-day Forum for Peace and Sustainable Development starting on Wednesday, said an official statement sent to PANA.

The forum aims to ensure a sustainable dialogue and interaction between African leaders and experts, as well as to call, stimulate and motivate international financial institutions to finance development projects on the continent.

"The Aswan Forum highlights the importance of inter-African connectivity at all levels, providing leaders and prominent personalities with the opportunity to address key issues of concern to the continent and African peoples," said Egyptian Foreign Affairs minister Sameh Choucri.

According to the statement, the  meeting will be chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi, current Chairman of the African Union (AU).

During his stay until 15 December, the Senegalese President will take part in the third edition of the World Youth Forum, holding from Saturday to Tuesday in Sharm El Sheikh on the theme, International Peace and Security: Current Challenges.

The gathering will focus on global peace and security, environmental protection, the effects of climate change and their impact on humanity.
