Senegalese President expresses ECOWAS leaders' compassion to Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré on Friday met with his Senegalese counterpart, Macky Sall, who made a brief stopover in Ouagadougou, the Burkina Faso Presidency said in a statement on Saturday.

Coming from Niamey in Niger, where he took part in the extraordinary summit of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, President Sall came to present his condolences to the Head of State following the terrorist attack on the Ougarou-Boungou axis that killed 38 people.

"I have come to express to my brother and friend, President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, the solidarity of the Senegalese people following the attack on Boungou, a barbaric and senseless attack," said the Senegalese president, after his meeting with the President of Burkina Faso.

"We also want to tell the people of Burkina Faso that we are in a world where no country is spared from terrorist violence, and when you take the most developed countries, there are also daily attacks," said Sall.

"We have observed in Niamey, at the summit of heads of state and government of ECOWAS, a minute's silence in memory of the deceased victims and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded."

"Heads of State asked me to convey their message of condolences to the president and the people of Burkina Faso, "added the Senegalese president.
