Senegalese President-elect Faye to be sworn in on Tuesday

Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - The President-elect of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, will be sworn in on Tuesday at the Centre International de Conférences Abdou Diouf (CICAD-Abdou Diouf International Conferenre Centre) in Diamniadio, some 30 kilometres from the capital, Dakar, the Senegalese Press Agency (APS) reported, quoting an official source.

The swearing-in ceremony will be followed by a handover of power by the outgoing president Macky Sall at the Palais de la République.

The local press reports that several foreign heads of state will be attending the inauguration ceremony, without giving any further details.

Faye was declared the winner of last Sunday's presidential election with 54.28% of the vote, according to provisional official results announced on Wednesday.

The president-elect was received by Macky Sall on Thursday.

The two men discussed the major issues facing the State and the swearing-in and transfer of power ceremony, according to the Presidency.

Ousmane Sonko, leader of the Senegalese African Patriots for Ethics and Fraternity (Pastef, a dissolved party), of which the President-elect is a member, took part in the meeting.
