Rwandan Paul Kagame sends condolences after Ethiopian plane crash

Kigali, Rwanda (PANA) -  Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Sunday sent his condolences to families affected by Sunday morning's crash of an Ethiopian Airlines plane.

Reports indicate that the flight left Bole airport in Addis Ababa at 8.38 am, local time, before losing contact with the control tower just a few minutes later at 8.44 am.

It also said a Rwandan, who was working with the UNHCR in Sudan, was among the victims aboard Ethiopian Airline which crashed on its way to Kenya.

The Rwandan, who was identified as Jackson Musoni, was among 157 passengers killed in the plane crash. They included 32 Kenyans, 18 Canadians, 9 Ethiopians, 8 Italians, 8 Chinese, 8 Americans, 7 Britons, 7 French, 6 Egyptians, 5 Dutch, among others.

In his message, the Rwandan leader conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives on the Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa to Nairobi.

“We stand with Prime Minister Abiy and the people of Ethiopia. Our thoughts are with you," Kagame said in a message posted on his twitter handle.

"There are no survivors onboard the flight, which carried passengers from 33 countries," said state-run Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation, quoting an unidentified source at the airline.
