Rwanda's Internal Security minister suspended over accountability issues

Kigali, Rwanda (PANA) - Rwandan President Paul Kagame has removed the Minister of Internal Affairs minister, Gen. Patrick Nyamvumba, from his duties owing to matters of accountability under investigation, an official statement issued on Monday in Kigali said.

He reports back to the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) Headquarters pending a further decision, according to the communique. It gave no further details. 

General Nyamvumba was appointed Minister of Internal Affairs on 4 November, 2019. Prior to that, he was RDF Chief of Defence Staff.

From 2009 to 2013, Gen. Nyamvumba served in Sudan as Force Commander of AU-UN Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID).
