RwandAir suspends flights to Uganda over runway closure at Entebbe

Kigali, Rwanda (PANA) - Rwanda's national carrier, RwandAir, on Thursday suspended all flights to Uganda's Entebbe International airport until further notice due to the runway closure in the Ugandan capital.

The airline said in a statement on Thursday that all affected passengers will be rebooked on other available flights and travel once the runway becomes operational.

The move comes after the Civil Aviation Authority in Uganda released communication about an "incident" that happened at Entebbe International Airport on Thursday morning.

It said that inbound international flights had been affected by an Ethiopian Airlines plane that overshot the runway.

Rwanda Airline currently maintains two daily international flights to Entebbe.

From Kigali as its hub, the airline also flies to 26 destinations in West, East and Southern Africa, the Middle East, Mumbai (India), United Kingdom (UK) and Europe.
