RwandAir suspends fights to Mumbai after India border closure over coronavirus concern

Kigali, Rwanda (PANA) - Rwanda's national carrier, RwandAir, has suspended all flights to Mumbai, India, after the Indian authorities announced new measures to close the border and all consular services for about a month over coronavirus concerns, Rwanda public television  reported on Friday.

The Indian government on Wednesday suspended “all existing visas, except diplomatic, official, UN/international organizations, employment, project visas” until 15 Aprilto rein in the spread of Covid-19. 

The visa-free travel facility for Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) card holders has been suspended until the same date. The curbs go into effect at 1200 GMT on 13 March at the port of departure, it said.

The suspension of RwandAir flights to India comes almost two months the airline cancelled flights to and from the Chinese city of Guangzhou following declaration of the coronavirus outbreak as global public health emergency.
