RwandAir's direct flight to Kinshasa postponed to 17 April
Kigali, Rwanda (PANA) - A new direct flight by Rwanda's national carrier, RwandAir, that was set to be officially launched on 15 April to connect Kigali with Kinshasa (DR Congo), was postponed by two days, an authoritative source confirmed Monday to PANA in Kigali.
The launching of direct flights between Kigali and Kinshasa, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), was initially scheduled to be launched on 15 April, 2019.
No reason was given for the change in date, the statement, issued in Kigali, said.
The new flight arrangement will be on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday via Brazzaville.
One of the airline's technology service provider, known as "Amadeus", said there will be three weekly direct flights between Kigali and Kinshasa, with a stopover in Libreville (Gabon).
RwandAir said the new flight arrangement is with aicraft model B737-800NG will be on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays to Libreville via Kinshasa.
RwandAir was recently named the 10th most-improved airline in the world by Skytrax, and has built a reputation for excellent on-time performance, reports said.
With Kigali as its hub, RwandAir currently flies to 26 destinations in West, East and Southern Africa, the Middle East, Mumbai (India) and Europe.
The airline, which has 12 planes, plans to increase its fleet to about 20 in the next two years.
The carrier has grown from a virtual carrier, leasing its entire fleet, to operating its own which now consists of two B737-700s, two B737-800s, two CRJ-900s, two Bombardier Q-400s, two A330-200 and two A330-300.
