Russian President willing to mediate between Egypt and Ethiopia

Sochi, Russia (PANA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday said he is willing to mediate between Egypt and Ethiopia to find a solution to the crisis in the Renaissance dam, the Kremlin said in a statement.

The announcement was made when Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi and the Ethiopian Prime Minister Aliy Ahmed are all in Sochi to take part in the Russia-Africa Summit.

Sissi and Ahmed met the same day in Sochi on the sidelines of the summit, the Egyptian television announced quoting Egyptian presidential spokesman Bessam Ridha.

The Russian President has, in the same vein, announced his support for the holding in Egypt of a forum to discuss issues of peace and development in December, said the statement.

The forum is expected to discuss issues related to economics, culture and science while emphasizing the depth of Egypt's ties with its African and Arab environments.

The Russia-Africa Summit, which began on Wednesday in Sochi, is described as the biggest event in Russian-African relations.
