Russia-Africa: Toward an unprecedented 'summit' in Russian-African relations

Moscow, Russia (PANA) -  A senior Russian Foreign Ministry official said on Monday that the "Russian-African" summit, scheduled for Wednesday in Sochi, Russia, will set new criteria for cooperation between Russia and African countries, based on interests of non-interference in the internal affairs of states and in accordance with UN conventions.

Answering a question from PANA, the Russian official added that the summit is the first of its kind in the history of relations between Russia and African countries and will include the participation of 47 African leaders and 8 presidents of African organizations.

The Summit will look at economic, trade and investment relations between Russia and Africa, while examining opportunities and joint projects for the benefit of both sides, he said.
