Retired military officer, Colonel Major Bah N'Daw, named President of Mali Transition

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - Retired Colonel-Major Bah N'Daw was named President of the Mali Transition on Monday.

"The college set up for the appointment of officials to lead the transition has appointed Bah N'Daw President of the transition and Colonel Assimi Goita, Vice President," said the National Council for the Salvation of the People (CNSP) on its Twitter account.

Goita currently heads the military junta that took power recently.

Born on August 23, 1950, in San (Segou region in Mali), Bah N'Daw had a brilliant career in the Air Force before retiring.

In 2014, he served as Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs.

N'Daw speaks French, Russian, English and Bambara, Mali's most widely spoken language.
