Qatar airways lands in Botswana

Gaborone, Botswana (PANA) - Qatar airways made its maiden landing in Gaborone, Botswana, on Sunday following President Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi’s assurance that Qatar Airways will add to the operators flying directly to Botswana, according to the Voyages Afriq website.

In his State of the Nation address last month President Masisi said Qatar Airways will start flying direct to Botswana in mid-Dec 2019, joining the Ethiopian airways which has been operational for the past two years.

It is expected that the new route will offer seamless connectivity options for international travelers who wish to fly to Botswana and will also provide Botswana with a direct link with Qatar.

Qatar Airways is the first Middle Eastern airline to start service to Botswana. The flights will be operated three times a week from Hamad International Airport, the sole international airport in the state of Qatar, located south of its capital, Doha.

The Airbus A350-900 aircraft has 36 seats in the business class section and 247 seats in economy class.
