President Boni Yayi to attend Francophone summit

Cotonou, Benin (PANA) – The Beninese president and chairman of the African Union, Boni Yayi, will attend the 14th summit of heads of State and government from International francophone organization (OIF), which opens Friday in capital of Democratic Republic of Congo, diplomatic sources told PANA on Thursday in Cotonou.

During summit, which is under the theme "Francophonie, environmental and economic stakes", the heads of State and government would discuss the economy and the environmental governance, agro-forestry and food security and culture and education.

Other topics of interest that would be discussed are the rule of law and democracy, human rights and human person, religious liberty, youth, sexual violence on women and children, will be part of the resolutions of the summit.

In his capacity as African Union chairman, Boni Yayi will address the summit to make the Francophone community know about the position adopted by Africa on issues of African and international concerns.

The Kinshasa summit will end on Sunday with the adoption of a declaration that will help better reaffirm in the concert of nations, the Francophonie ideals, built around the sharing of the French language.
