President Bashir to attend Russia-Africa summit

Khartoum, Sudan (PANA) - President Vladimir Putin of Russia on Saturday invited President Omar Bashir of Sudan to attend the Africa-Russia summit, taking place in October in Sochi, Russia, it was announced here on Saturday.

Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, arrived here on Saturday and called on President Omar Bashir to deliver the official invitation.

The Russian official said he discussed with president Bashir all questions of mutual interest and particularly the political question of common concern.

He said he was happy to find the Sudan adopting objective and balanced stands in all issues discussed.

He said he also discussed with president Bashir areas of cooperation, particularly the training of Sudanese cadres in Russia.

The two sides said they discussed trade and economic cooperation.

Minister Mikhail Bogdanov is currently on an African tour to prepare for the first Africa-Russia summit.
