President Barrow appoints Noah Gambia’s new Secretary General

Banjul, Gambia (PANA) - President Adama Barrow Tuesday appointed Noah Touray as the country’s new Secretary-general and head of Civil Service.

He replaces Muhammed BS Jallow who spent only nine months in that position.

However, many Gambians on social media criticised Barrow’s administration for appointing Touray, a close associate of former President Yahya Jammeh, which they said undermined the struggle of the country.

A probe into the financial dealing of ex-President Jammeh and his close associates by the Janneh Commission found Touray and a dozen others under Jammeh’s 22-year rule guilty of authorising withdrawal of public funds.

Touray served as Cabinet secretary under Jammeh’s regime.
