Nigeria's meteorological agency warns of 'hot and dry' harmattan season

Lagos, Nigeria (PANA) - As the dry season begins in Nigeria, the country's meteorological agency has warned citizens to prepare for a hot and dry weather conditions.

In a statement, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) also warned against dehydration and respiratory disorder.

NIMET said temperature across the country is expected to increase by 3 degrees Celsius during the dry season, which runs from the end of October to March.

“The increase in temperature will generally result in increase in human discomfort level. The residents in the north and central parts are therefore advised to stay in cool and well-ventilated places. They should avoid long exposure to direct sun radiation to reduce incidences of dehydration,” the agency said

The rainy season runs from the end of March to October, with a short break in rainfall in between.
