Nigeria: Buhari assigns portfolios to 43 new Ministers, retains Spokespersons

Abuja, Nigeria (PANA) – Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday assigned Ministerial portfolios to the 43 new Ministers he inaugurated early in the day.

President Buhari retained for himself position of Minister of Petroleum Resources while former Governor of Bayelsa State in the Niger Delta region, Mr Timipre Sylva, would serve as his junior Minister of State.

Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, a returnee Minister, retains his former position as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed also retains his former portifolio as Minister of Information and Culture while the new Minister of Defence is retired Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi.

The President also created three new Ministries, that of Aviation, Police Affairs and Humanitarian Services.

The Nigeria Presidency also on Wednesday announced the approval of President Buhari for the re-appointment of his two Spokespersons, Mr Femi Adesina as Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, and Malam Garba Shehu as Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity.
