Niger: Govt. orders 3 days national mourning for 9 soldiers killed in terrorist attacks

Niamey, Niger (PANA) - Niger Friday began a three-day national mourning following the death of nine soldiers killed in terrorist attacks at the border with Mali, the government indicated says on Thursday after its weekly cabinet meeting.

In a communiqué, the government ordered that the flags be flown t half-mast across the country.

"On Thursday, terrorists again attack our country, hitting a prison in Ouallam and a refugee camp," says the communiqué, which indicated that 5 police officers, 2 gendarmes, 2 guards, a woman and two of the attackers were killed.

A search for the terrorists is currently on, it added.
