Niamey to host extraordinary G5 Sahel summit

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA)  -  An extraordinary summit will bring together the five heads of state of the G5 Sahel countries Sunday in Niamey, Niger, diplomatic sources told PANA here Saturday.

This meeting, which followed the attack on a Nigerien military camp on December 10, leading to the death of 71 soldiers, comes as the French president postponed a meeting in France that was to be held on December 16 on the presence of French troops in the Sahel.

The meeting has been postponed to January 2020.

The G5 Sahel includes Burkina Faso, Mali, Chad, Mauritania and Niger and is under the chairmanship of Burkina Faso.
